TANPOKE / PRIVACY
Tanpoke Privacy Policy
Updated:
This policy explains information handling in Tanpoke, the English vocabulary app provided by 1225labo (the operator). Differences between the iOS and Android versions are identified in the relevant sections.
1. Our approach
Tanpoke has no app-specific account registration. It has no feature that automatically sends learning data to the operator's servers for collection, and contains no advertising SDK or third-party behavioral-tracking SDK.
Purchases, operating-system backups, and sharing or support that you choose may use external services. Logs and analytics associated with visiting the product website are covered by the Website Privacy Policy.
2. On-device data
The app stores studied words, study times, answers, review state, flags, notes, wordbooks, settings and Poke's state on your device. These support continued study, display, review and character features.
The operator cannot remotely view or retrieve this on-device data unless you choose to send it to us, for example in a support request.
3. Backups and exports
On iOS, when iCloud Drive is available, the app saves a backup of learning records and wordbooks. Backups can be created manually and are also made automatically when the app enters the background. They include a creation time and device name. Using the backup on another device requires the app's restore operation.
When you export a JSON file, the chosen storage or sharing destination receives the data. Apple's and other providers' policies apply to their handling of iCloud or shared files. Purchase entitlements are managed by the store separately from learning backups.
On Android, app data may be backed up depending on operating-system and device settings. This is separate from the iOS iCloud feature; availability, restoration and included data depend on the device and its services.
4. Recognizing words in images and playing audio
The iOS word-scanning feature processes an image you capture or select on the device and matches recognized words to the included dictionary. Images and full recognized text are not sent to the operator's servers. You can choose to add matched dictionary words to a wordbook.
Pronunciation uses your device's speech features. Playing a pronunciation does not record your voice. You can change camera and other permissions in device settings. Refer to the app for features available on your operating system.
5. In-app purchases
Purchases, restoration and entitlement checks use Apple's App Store and StoreKit on iOS and Google Play billing on Android. The app uses information such as owned products to determine which features are available.
The operator does not receive credit-card numbers or similar payment details. Each store's terms and privacy policy govern its billing and purchase-history processing.
6. Support and beta distribution
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message and any app version, environment or relevant word information you choose to provide. We use these to respond and investigate. Avoid unnecessary personal information or information about others. The Website Privacy Policy also explains handling through the website form.
For beta distribution such as TestFlight, the distribution provider may share usage, diagnostics, and screenshots or feedback you submit with the operator. TestFlight information includes device and operating-system details and, depending on how you were invited, may include your name and email address. This is separate from automatically uploading learning data to the operator's servers.
7. Retention, deletion and purchase history
On-device information is retained as app data while you continue using it. Resetting learning records is not a feature for deleting all app information. Deletion cannot be undone, so export learning data you want to keep before taking destructive actions.
Deleting data in the app, uninstalling the app, deleting iCloud or operating-system backups, and deleting exported files are separate actions. Purchase history and entitlements are also managed separately from study records. The operator cannot delete or restore data held only on your device or in storage destinations you control.
We retain support information we receive to handle the request and keep necessary records. When legal obligations, dispute resolution, continued support or similar reasons no longer require retention, we delete it or organize it so individuals are no longer identifiable.
8. External processing and security
Apart from necessary operations such as purchases and backups, sharing you choose, and support correspondence, the app has no feature for disclosing learning data externally. We protect information we receive through measures such as access restrictions and do not sell it. We do not use or disclose it for unrelated purposes without consent, except where permitted or required by law.
Apple, Google and storage or sharing destinations you select may process information outside your country. We take measures required by applicable law for our own processing; each provider's policy explains its own practices.
9. Children and information requests
Children should review information submissions and purchases with a parent or guardian and obtain their consent where required.
Use our contact form to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of support information or other information we hold. We verify identity to the extent necessary and respond under applicable law. For on-device data we have not received, we can explain the controls available to you.
10. Updates and operator
Tanpoke is operated by 1225labo. We update this policy when features or information practices change. Significant changes are announced in the app or on the website, with notices or consent requests where required by law.
